Youngsun Lee is a PhD student in the Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership. Her current research centers on racial/ethnic disproportionality in school discipline and its association with truancy, absenteeism, and disengagement. She is also passionate about understanding Asian-origin students' experiences in the U.S. K-12 schools, particularly the socioeconomic disparities among Asian students. She is open to collaborating with others who share her interests in these areas (ylee1245@umd.edu).
She previously worked at the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET), where she coordinated two national-level projects for secondary career education: building school-community partnerships to enhance local career education and executing university career exploration programs for students in rural and underserved areas. Additionally, with experience teaching students from elementary to undergraduate, she had primarily taught middle and high school students English (as a foreign language), math, and academic writing in the social sciences.
