This program aims to enhance teachers’ ability to catalyze change by fostering deep mathematical understanding and promoting instructional practices aligned with contemporary mathematical standards, which uphold ambitious expectations across all grade levels. Through this program, teachers will develop the skills to design, assess, and deliver mathematically problem-solving tasks that require students to explain their reasoning, justify solutions, engage in problem solving, construct mathematical arguments, and critique the reasoning of others. Teachers will be prepared to elevate and harness students' diverse social, cultural, linguistic, contextual, and cognitive assets for the learning of mathematics.
The School Improvement Leadership Post-Baccalaureate Certificate (PBC) is a 18-credit graduate program which leads to ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ Administrator I Certification. This fully on-line program provides a part-time, state-wide cohort-based professional learning experience which supports teacher leaders who aspire to become school leaders in meeting the requirements for MSDE Admin I certification.
As a double major in English Language and Literature and English Education, the Secondary Education, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.): English Area of Concentration program is both highly regarded and in demand. It prepares educators to provide the critically important knowledge and skills necessary to flourish in an increasingly complex world.
Through a long term collaborative relationship with partnering public school districts, students gain practical experience and learn from expert master teachers while developing their individual approaches to teaching and learning.
This program leads to teacher licensure and a double major degree in English Education and English Language and Literature.
Secondary Education - Mathematics Concentration (Terrapin Teachers), B.S.

The program in Secondary Education - Social Studies Concentration, B.A. or B.S. prepares aspiring educators for a dynamic career shaping the minds of students in grades 7-12, fostering critical thinking, civic engagement and informed citizenship. With a curriculum emphasizing social justice-oriented teaching and hands-on classroom experiences, graduates emerge ready to make a difference in the lives of students.
This program leads to a teacher certification and a double degree or double major in Secondary Social Studies Education and one of three specialty areas: history, government, or geography.

The Secondary Education Minor offers non-education majors a pathway to explore the teaching profession through a curated selection of education courses. It covers essential topics that include adolescent development and education policies. Upon completion, students will have a deeper understanding of education theory and strategies to address the needs of students in today's high schools.

The Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership - Language, Literacy, and Social Inquiry Specialization, Ph.D. program is focused on the study of language and literacy learning in pre-kindergarten through high school. Our program offers two areas of focus, Applied Linguistics and Language Education, and Literacy Education, that will prepare you for roles as researchers, curriculum specialists, teacher educators and educational leaders.
Students have research interests ranging from bi/multilingualism, bilingual/dual language education and code switching to culturally responsive approaches to elementary reading instruction, research comprehension strategies and vocabulary for literacy learning.
